Happy New Year!

I can't quite believe that we are almost a week into the new year. Where does the time go? I'm still not quite done with my Christmas gifts yet. I did get the important things done though. I decided that it was more important to spend time with my family than to hide while finishing up my gifts. I did hide way on Christmas Eve to make this little Christmas Pickle.

I'm glad that I made time for it. It was my favorite Christmas knitting project. The tradition of searching for the pickle on the Christmas tree is new in my family, but it is one of my favorites. I gave this pickle to my sister and brother-in-law.

My major project was to make new stockings. I am please that they were all done with plenty of time to spare. I think they are quite nice looking all together. I may decide to rip the middle stocking out and make another though. It is much larger than the others.

I'm glad to have found some balance last year. I am searching for more this year.

oops

I suppose it was foolish of me to try to start a blog in December when there are so many other demands on my time. Clearly I haven't gotten off to a stellar start.
My Christmas planning is likewise falling apart.

Last week on of my coworkers convinced me to knit a stocking for her soon to be daughter-in-law. Having that fairly large project added to my already rather daunting to do list seems to mean that yet again I'll be the girl knitting frantically on Christmas Eve. Either that or I will decided that I really do have until the 12th day of Christmas to give my gifts!

I still haven't sent out my cards. I have however made fudge. I think that is the one thing my family really cares about. So maybe that is enough.

Christmas Planning Part I

Knit Hearts

I'm making some progress on my Christmas planning. I made these cute little knit hearts. The pattern is fun knit that uses just a bit of yarn. I might skip gifting an other item to the kiddos in my family this year. If I'm feeling ambitious this weekend, I might sew them each a patchwork scarf.

I've been knitting stockings for my family. I have four done and one on the needles. I think I will finish it fairly quickly. It is a pretty quick knit.

I have four pairs of socks to knit. I only have one done, but I plan to knit the rest of the socks in a worsted weight yarn. That should make them quick knits. I plan to knit some horcrux socks next. I think they will be a fun knit!

I even have my big batch of Christmas cookies baked and waiting in the freezer! I do need to make some fudge soon. I wonder if I could have made that for the fridge.

Hope your planning is going well!

I've been thinking about starting a blog for a long time. I'm finally doing it!
